Off the Meds

Today Grace and I went over the mountain to visit her kidney doctor for a checkup, bloodwork, etc. I don't know how I manage to do these things, but apparently I was a month early for her appointment. Am I just eager to go to the doctor or what? I show up at the lab and they look at my like I'm crazy (not the first time I've heard that) so she goes to talk to the doctor and then comes back to tell me apparently my appointment was on March 8th not February 8th and not only that but Grace's doctor is stuck in a snow storm in Virginia. Lovely. Fortunately though these people are so nice they fit me in their schedule with the other kidney doctor. Whoo Hoo! Long story short, it was a quick appointment. But the good news is that after nearly 17 months of being on isradipine three times a day, Grace is officially off her blood pressure medicine! I wanted to jump up and dance I was so excited. The doctor was like well, the deal is she is on a non-therapeutic dose now. Do you know what that means? I'm like uh, she doesn't need it anymore? That's right. So I guess we'll find out for sure this week when I take her blood pressures. I'm sure I'm not going to know what to do with myself now that I will have all this free time on my hands. My brain is so accustomed to eight-hour time spans and keeping track of when I last gave her her medicine, was it 9 o'clock, 10 o'clock, then 1 o'clock and 2 o'clock........I'm so accustomed to giving her this medicine I will surely wake up at night in a panic that I forgot to give it to her. This is going to take some time for my brain to adjust. Ah. I think I can handle it. The doctor said we will just have to do labs on Grace about twice a year until she is like 12. I guess to make sure that her good kidney is growing up with her and functioning well. Otherwise, I guess maybe I'll get to be a kidney donor someday.

Zumba

So Friday night was Family Zumba at the gym so I took Twinkle Toes with me. It was our first time. It's mostly a class for kids - think hip hop with Latin dancing. It was pretty fun and we mostly jumped and danced the whole time. She loved it. She's just like me in that department. I think she is going to like to exercise. And here's Grace talking on the telephone. She carries on lots of conversations but I have no clue what they are about.
