Our 4th of July Weekend.....a visit to La Grande

So we started off by stopping at one of the "Ghost Towns" on the way to La Grande. The name of the town is Shaniko.

My pictures are out of order. So we got to La Grande on Friday early enough to surprise Daddy at work and see his new office.

The Front Porch of our new house.

Our new house. This was my first time seeing it since the kids and I are still living in Redmond and the Hubby started his new job in La Grande. He has been looking for us a house for like the last month and a half. I told him...you have good taste, you know what I like, find me an old house with character. Boy, did he deliver! Way to go Daddy.

The previous owner basically gutted the whole house (it's 100 years old), updated everything including the kitchen, and built cabinets everywhere. literally. There is a place for everything in this house.

This is going to be the kids room, all of the kids together in one room! This is looking at one end with the cabinets he built. This is in the basement and the owner actually dug the floor down so the ceilings would be higher in the basement. He must of had some time on his hands I'm thinking. The kids were thrilled with their new room. All they said they wanted were stairs and so they got some "down" stairs.

This is kind of how the kids room is going to look. The previous owner built a queen bed into the corner of the room and a closet. Caleb and Grace will probably share this bed.

This is the other downstairs room that we are going to make into a huge playroom for the kids. The whole room is surrounded with cabinets.

we have 6-7 different varieties of roses and a whole slew of raspberries, enough for the whole neighborhood, and a whole jungle of plants I need to figure out how to care for.

I'll post the rest of the house later. It was mostly filled with boxes so I couldn't really take pictures of the rest of it. Upstairs there is going to be an office for me, a living room, a separate dining room, the kitchen, our bedroom, and 2 bathrooms - one for me and one for Hubie. They're pretty small bathrooms with not a lot of storage so I figured we each needed our own space. The nice thing about this house is the Hubby is two blocks from his work, we're a couple of blocks from downtown/the movie theater and Twinkle Toes is maybe three blocks from her school, so we might literally never drive again. When are we officially moving? No idea. Still trying to sell the house here.
