Is this really May?

Ahhh..... summer has arrived in full force in the high desert.

96-degree weather, the sound of kids playing in the sprinklers, the first sunburn of the season, popsicles to share, planting seeds, lathering on of sunscreen, barefoot kids in the grass, open windows, fresh air, lawnmowers buzzing, digging my fingers in the soil, the hum of A/C, hanging clothes out on the line to dry

Today the sky is grey and well, I'm embarrased to say it is a nice reprieve.

My kids and I have been planting a lot of things in the garden and yard this past week. We were planting flowers the other day and Twinkle Toes says, "Why are we planting flowers Mommy? Is it because they want to be with all their friends and be happy?" Yes, dear, plants need friends and they want to be happy too......
